WWE Evolution 2 is less than two weeks away, but behind the scenes, officials are still scrambling to lock in big names for the all-women’s show. A new report reveals just how last-minute things have gotten, with creative plans and negotiations for returning legends reportedly going down to the wire.
According to Fightful Select, WWE has been actively working to bring back top female legends for the event, including Trish Stratus, who’s already begun her return storyline with Tiffany Stratton following this week’s SmackDown tapings in Pittsburgh. But Trish isn’t the only familiar face the company has been in talks with.
“There were a number of other legends that were contacted,” the report confirmed.
WWE’s efforts to nail down Evolution 2 appearances have been happening for weeks, but the process has been anything but smooth.
“Some of the creative and the negotiating came down to the wire,” the report explained.
Part of the last-minute chaos reportedly stems from Liv Morgan’s injury, which forced major changes to creative plans for Evolution 2. As a result, the company had to reshuffle their approach for several matches, including tag team bouts.
The disorganization hasn’t been limited to just behind-the-scenes negotiations. Even the wrestlers themselves were left in the dark about Evolution 2 until the show was made public.
“Talent had not been told of the event before the public announcement, though many had heard the online rumors,” the report added.
With time running out, it’s clear WWE is working overtime to make Evolution 2 feel special. Whether they succeed may depend on which legends they can secure—and how fast they can get those deals signed.
