Blackpool host Reading in a crunch clash in the race for 2024-25 League One Play-Offs.
Should Bolton and Leyton Orient both suffer defeat elsewhere, victory would see Blackpool climb to eighth in the table.
Reading can stay sixth with a win although a draw or defeat would be enough if Huddersfield fail to better their result.
Team News
Elkan Baggott is a doubt for Blackpool after he missed their 2-1 win over Bolton with a minor ankle injury.
Josh Onomah (knock) and Andy Lyons (ACL) aren’t expected to feature in this game.
Reading could welcome Tyler Bindon back into contention after he missed their win over Peterborough due to illness.
Andre Garcia (knock) isn’t expected to be available for selection.
When is Kick-Off?
Blackpool host Reading at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday 1 April at 7:45pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Blackpool have lost two of their last eight league meetings against Reading (W5, D1, L2).
- Reading are winless in their last eight league trips to Blackpool (D2, L6).
- Blackpool have won two of their last three home games against Reading by 4-1 results, whilst the other fixture ended in a 1-0 win in July 2022.
- Each of Blackpool’s last three home games have ended in a 2-1 result, of which the Tangerines won two of those three matches.
- Reading have won just one of their last six away games in the third-tier (W1, D3, L2).
Prediction
With just three losses in their last 23 league games during which they picked up 10 draws, Blackpool now really could do with a more consistent winning run in their final seven games off the back of two well-fought wins over Northampton and Bolton if want to push for a play-off spot.
Reading though are unbeaten in their last 11 games but they’ve drawn six of those matches which could defining come end of season, yet they come to Bloomfield Road off the back of a strong home win over Peterborough in which they were clinical in a tightly-fought game which could well be the case here.
With a play-off spot at stake and both teams in strong form, I fancy a draw if Reading can put their poor form in this fixture to one side.
Prediction: Blackpool 1-1 Reading
