Vilahamn’s departure comes less than 48 hours after Men’s First-Team Manager, Ange Postecoglou was fired in what has turned out to be a ruthless double managerial sacking for the North-London club at the end of a difficult domestic season.
Vilahamn arrived at Spurs in July 2023 and in his first season, he led them to a sixth-placed Women’s Super League (WSL) finish and runner-up in the Women’s FA Cup, during which they claimed a first home win over Arsenal in the WSL in December 2023.
This season however proved disastrous as the club exited the Women’s FA Cup at the fourth-round stage and slumped to 11th in the WSL, in which they claimed just three points in a winless 10-match run to conclude their league campaign to finish second bottom in the top-tier.
Spurs consequently acted to remove Vilahamn from his position following a post-season performance review, with Tottenham Hotspur Women’s Managing Director, Andy Rogers stating that now is the right time to bring in a new manager.
“There have been some special moments during Robert’s tenure, including reaching the FA Cup final for the first time.
“However, results and performances this season have not been to the level we would expect and now is the right time to make a change.
“We should like to thank Robert for his professionalism and efforts over the past two seasons, and we wish him well for the future.”
