Australia won 13 of the 19 tests they played in the cycle, including 5 against India and England.

Australia are aiming to defend their World Test Championship crown when they face off against South Africa at Lord’s on Wednesday. Pat Cummins and Co. won the WTC in 2023, defeating India, and went on to enjoy a stellar run, reaching successive finals. Australia faced off against England, India and New Zealand in this cycle, and managed to top the WTC standings 13 wins.

Australia’s road to WTC Final 2025

Australia began their WTC title defence with the Ashes in England. Cummins and Co began with 2 wins before England clawed back to level the series 2-2. They returned home for a dominant summer, sealing a 3-0 whitewash over Pakistan. West Indies clinched a memorable win at the Gabba as Australia drew 1-1 against the Caribbean side. They brushed aside their Trans-Tasman rivals, clinching a 2-0 win in New Zealand.

Securing the Border Gavaskar Trophy however, was the highlight. The hosts went down in Perth but launched a stellar comeback. Cummins and Co. won 3 of the next 4 tests to seal their berth in the WTC Final 2025. The tour of Sri Lanka followed, with two more wins added to their bag.

Of the 19 Tests, Australia won 13. Cummins led in all but 2 Tests, with Steve Smith deputising vs Sri Lanka. The finished second behind South Africa and made it to another WTC Final.
