Defender, Kenny Tete has signed a new three-year contract at Fulham, with a club option for a further year.
Tete’s contract expired on 30 June but the Cottagers offered him a new contract amidst intense interest from Everton, which the 29-year-old gave serious consideration before he ultimately signed a new three-year contract with Fulham until June 2028.
Fulham will have an option to activate a further one-year clause within his contract, which could see Tete remain at Craven Cottage until June 2029.
In an interview with FFCtv, Tete explained that he is “really happy” to stay in West London and provide stability for his family.
“I’m really happy to have signed, for myself and for my family, and I hope I can give more for the fans in these three years.
“After my first year I knew this was a family club, a really special club where I can develop. I want to be part of this group, and hopefully we can push for more.”
Vice-Chairman and Director of Football Operations, Tony Khan added: “I’m thrilled to announce that we have agreed terms with Kenny Tete for him to stay at Fulham until at least 2028, which will make him one of our longest serving players!
“Under Marco’s great leadership, Kenny is an integral player in the team. We are all very keen for him to stay with us, and I’m pleased that is now a long term commitment, as we continue to prepare for another successful Premier League campaign!”
Tete began his career with Zeeburgia at youth level before he moved to Ajax where he scored one goal in 55 senior appearances, having managed four goals in the exact same number of appearances for their reserve team.
July 2017 saw Tete move to Lyon, France, and helped them record three top-seven finishes in Ligue 1 before he joined Fulham in September 2020, where he has netted four goals in 119 appearances for the Cottagers.
During his time at Fulham, he was part of the team which suffered relegation in his first season at the club but they rebounded with promotion as 2021-22 Championship champions, and has since been part of the top-flight.
Tete represents Netherlands at international level and was part of the Under-17 team which won the UEFA U17 Euro in 2012, but has since gone on to graduate into the senior team where he made 14 appearances between 2015 – 21.
