Shanto, Mushfiqur to pile more misery on hosts?

In the first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the visitors dominated on Day 1. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim batted superbly, adding 247 runs together, the 6th highest partnership in Bangladesh’s Test history. Both scored centuries, with Shanto unbeaten on 136 and Mushfiqur on 105. Sri Lanka’s bowlers struggled, with Prabath Jayasuriya going wicketless. The Galle pitch offered less turn than usual but that can change on Day 2. Bangladesh were 45/3 earlier, but Shanto and Mushfiqur’s partnership changed the game. The hosts will look to bounce back on Day 2 in Angelo Mathews’ farewell Test.
