Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has said he wants to remain at AC Milan, even though he struggled to make an impact last season in Italy.
Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Villarreal with high hopes, but his time at the club has been difficult. He played only 26 matches in Serie A last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Since the start of this year, he has only featured for 180 minutes in total.
The club has already made changes, with Massimiliano Allegri replacing Conceicao as manager. However, reports suggest Milan may be ready to let Chukwueze go. Fulham and his former club Villarreal have both been mentioned as possible destinations.
Despite this, Chukwueze remains hopeful he can stay and succeed at the Italian giants. In an interview with Modo Victor, he praised the club’s fans.
“Milan’s supporters are among the best in the world. They truly deserve more than we gave them last season,” he said.
“They support us in the rain and cold, sing loudly, and always back the team.
Sadly, we disappointed them this year, but I hope next season will be better – with success in the league, the Coppa Italia, and a return to the Champions League.”
Should Chukwueze Leave Milan?
While Chukwueze wants to stay, his limited playing time raises questions about his future at the club. He has worked under three different managers – Stefano Pioli, Conceicao, and Paulo Fonseca – but has not secured a regular spot in the starting team.
A move back to Villarreal could offer him more chances on the pitch, especially as they will be playing in the UEFA Champions League. Fulham might also be a good option if they can guarantee him enough minutes in the Premier League.
At 25, Chukwueze still has time to revive his career, but staying at AC Milan without regular football could slow his progress. Whether he stays or leaves, the next move will be crucial for his future.
