Ricky Starks’ time in NXT may be coming to an end after his loss of the North American Championship to Ethan Page on May 27, 2025.
While the match itself was a brutal contest, the bigger news lies behind the scenes, as reports indicate that Starks is expected to be called up to WWE’s main roster in the near future.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Starks’ title loss is part of a larger strategy, with the company preparing to move several talents, including Starks, to Raw or SmackDown. Meltzer noted that this move, along with recent title changes in NXT, is to make space for these rising stars to enter the bigger WWE scene.
“Stephanie Vaquer and Ricky Saints both lost titles on NXT on 5/27, Vaquer the NXT title in a shocker to Jacy Jayne and Saints the North American title to Ethan Page. The reason was that both, along with Jordynne Grace, are all expected on the main roster imminently.”
The report also pointed out that Vaquer is expected to land on Raw, and Grace to SmackDown, though it remains unclear where exactly Starks will fit in.
“There are reports of Vaquer to Raw and Grace to Smackdown. When asking, we were told that it appeared that way right now. We didn’t get a read on where Saints would be going.”
The move to the main roster is a major step for Starks, especially considering how well he has performed in NXT. While his North American Championship reign came to an end, it seems WWE is preparing him for a bigger stage. With a roster brimming with talent like Starks, Grace, and Vaquer, the addition of these rising stars will only bolster WWE’s already impressive lineup.
As for Starks, fans are excited to see where his journey leads next. His time in NXT, although short, has paved the way for what could be a major main roster push.
