R-Truth didn’t just make a surprise return at Money in the Bank—he made WWE work for it. According to a new report, WWE tried all week to get in touch with the veteran star, but he wasn’t interested. It took WWE President Nick Khan stepping in personally to get the job done.
Fightful Select revealed that Truth, whose real name is Ron Killings, wasn’t answering WWE’s outreach leading up to the event. Despite several attempts from the company to reconnect, he remained silent—until Khan called him directly to hammer out a deal.
“We’re told that Killings actually ignored many of WWE’s approaches during the week, until Nick Khan took over and called Killings to work out a new deal. We’re told that the deal was a ‘meeting halfway’ situation.”
This all unfolded as fans kept up their public pressure campaign. The “We Want Truth” chants echoed across Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and even TNA’s Against All Odds, where fans made it clear they weren’t backing down. WWE had no choice but to listen.
Truth made his return during the main event of Money in the Bank and took out John Cena with a vicious spear. His interference directly helped Cody Rhodes hit Cross Rhodes and pin Cena in their tag match, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Though he’ll be referred to as Ron Killings for now, the comeback couldn’t have been timed better. WWE’s public stance is that this was all part of the show—but insiders say otherwise. It was a last-minute fix to a situation that nearly spun out of control, and it took Khan himself to cool things down.
