While WWE fans are still chanting “We Want Truth,” R-Truth himself isn’t crying over spilled storylines. According to WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, the longtime fan-favorite is actually embracing his WWE departure with open arms—and may even be on the verge of something bigger.
Speaking on the Road Trip After Hours podcast, Long revealed that he personally spoke with R-Truth after his exit and shared the former Superstar’s mindset going forward.
“I talked to Truth, and he’s happy with it,” Long said. “I saw his statement that he made after the release. So you know, it’s like this with me. If Truth is happy, I love it. So ain’t no going back and forth about this release, because talking back and forth or making an argument out of it that don’t get that ain’t bringing them back… everybody, if you got any, any sense at all, you know, you can see what is going on.”
Long believes this unexpected shift might just be a divine setup for a new chapter in R-Truth’s career.
“Do you know what this may — God does things for a reason? This may be the best thing to ever happen to him.”
He even drew from his own history with WWE, saying:
“What John Laurinaitis did to me was the best thing that could have happened to me.”
Long’s podcast co-host Mac Davis chimed in with optimism about seeing a new version of Truth outside the confines of WWE comedy segments.
“We might see the R-Truth that we have never got to see where he’s allowed to be him.”
Teddy Long had a suggestion for how R-Truth could reintroduce himself to fans—with the help of an old imaginary friend.
“He needs to sit down and… have a conversation with Little Jimmy. And Little Jimmy needs to kind of help bring our truth back to light… let Little Jimmy guide our truth back into the spotlight.”
While Davis speculated about the potential for a WWE return since Truth didn’t receive the usual “future endeavors” message, Long was firm in his stance that this is the end of the road—at least for now.
For R-Truth, this may not be a goodbye—it could be the beginning of something real. With Teddy Long in his corner and fan support stronger than ever, the next move might finally show us the R-Truth we never got to see in WWE.
