Josh Tongue bowled a ripper to castle a well set KL Rahul for 55 on Day 4
KL Rahul was undone by a Josh Tongue scorcher on Day 4 of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test at Edgbaston. Rahul was comfortably India’s best batsman in the 1st session, stroking a fine half-century. Just when he looked set for another ton, Tongue had him castled before Lunch.
Rahul’s castled by a peach
Rahul resumed his innings on 28 having batted for over 40 minutes before stumps on Day 3. With the ball moving around on Day 4, Rahul was circumspect and watchful. The 32-year-old did play a few delightful drives, stitching a partnership with Karun Nair.
Even after losing his long-time Karnataka teammate, Rahul looked set for a big one. He was comfortable facing a probing spell from Brydon Carse and eventually reached his half-century. Rahul had scored a century in the second innings at Leeds, and looked set for similar heroics.
But has often been the case in his career, the Indian opener’s innings fizzled out. Josh Tongue bowled a peach to send his stumps cartwheeling in the 30th over. Tongue was largely off-colour up to the point, but got the ball to tail back enough to destroy Rahul’s stumps.
