Nixon Newell was released by WWE in November 2024 after she was taken off television in April that year. She’s been active in the indies since then and now she has called out people who claim she is injury-prone and went after her time WWE as well.
Nixon Newell took to her Instagram and uploaded a video, where she called out her critics and also took a shot at WWE. She talked about how people often call her “injury-prone” and said she’s seen the comments online. She asked people to be more creative with their insults because the same jokes are getting old.
Newell pointed out that some of the wrestlers fans love have had more injuries than she has. She said she once wrestled an entire match with a broken leg and a hurt knee, while some others can’t even wrestle with a small injury like a broken nail.
“Oh hey, it’s me—your favorite ‘injury-prone’ wrestler. Or at least that’s what you guys say, right?
I mean, I see the comments you post online. So if you’re gonna keep talking, let’s at least get creative with it, because the jokes? They’re tired. It’s old. But here’s a newsflash—some of your favorites have been hurt way more than I have. I wrestled an entire match with a broken leg and a busted knee. Meanwhile, others can’t even wrestle with a broken nail. So sad.”
Nixon said she’s been wrestling for 14 years, including eight years in big wrestling companies. She worked hard every day, trying to prove herself, but kept getting more challenges thrown at her. She said it felt like a game she could never win. Even though wrestlers are told to speak up and when they do, they get called unprofessional or difficult, which she thinks is unfair.
The former WWE star talked about waiting around for opportunities, sitting in catering for hours, standing outside doors, and always being told it wasn’t the right time. Now, she said she’s done waiting. She believes now is her time and asked for a real chance to prove herself.
“Look, wrestling has been my life for 14 years—eight of those in the ‘big leagues.’ I was busting my ass day in and day out, jumping through hoop after hoop, just for another one to be put in front of me.
I was playing a game I couldn’t win. You’re told to speak up and be empowered, but when you actually do, suddenly you’re unprofessional and difficult. So tell me—how is that fair?
I sat for hours in catering, stood outside doors day after day, only to be told, ‘It’s just not the right time.’ But I’m done waiting. I’m telling you—now is the time. So consider this me knocking. Give me an opportunity.”
Newell has made it clear she is ready to make a name for herself outside WWE and so we’ll have to wait and see if she will end up signing a deal with another wrestling promotion soon enough, as fans feel she deserves it.
