West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket, the player announced on Monday.
“After much thought and reflection, I’ve decided to announce my retirement from international cricket,” a statement released by the 29-year-old on his Instagram account began.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) thanked Pooran for his contributions to the national team in a statement as well. “Nicholas officially informed the leadership of his decision to retire from international cricket, bringing to a close a significant chapter in his career.”
Pooran hangs his boots at the international level as the most capped West Indies player in T20 Internationals with 106 matches and the leading T20I run-scorer with 2275 runs. In ODIs, he’s played 61 matches and scored 1983 runs. He didn’t play in the longest format of the game.
His last ODI match came in 2023 against Sri Lanka at Harare while his final T20I match was against Bangladesh last year at Kingstown.
According to CWI, the batter asked to be rested for both the ongoing England and upcoming Ireland series due to his stint with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League.
In IPL 2025 with LSG, Pooran notched up his best-ever season in the league with the bat. He scored 524 runs in 14 matches, averaging above 40 and striking almost at 200.
