Liv Morgan is taking her WWE star power straight to Hollywood—and now we know exactly what she’s filming. After requesting time off on WWE Raw to shoot a major movie project, the full details have been confirmed, and this is no small role.
According to Deadline, Morgan has joined the cast of Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, a dark crime thriller directed by Takashi Miike, the acclaimed Japanese filmmaker behind cult classics like Audition and 13 Assassins. Filming is set to begin in May.
Morgan will appear alongside Shun Oguri and Lily James in what insiders are calling a career-defining opportunity. Written by Daisuke Tengan and based on the original Bad Lieutenant IP from Edward R. Pressman, the film follows a corrupt Tokyo cop (Oguri) who gets pulled into a complex case involving an FBI agent (James) investigating the disappearance of a politician’s daughter—played by Liv Morgan. At the same time, a deviant killer operating within the yakuza underworld is watching their every move.
As previously reported, Morgan had a “big week” ahead with a major announcement on the way, and insiders claimed the role “could cement” her as the next “it girl” in Hollywood—if everything clicks the way they believe it will.
The announcement also ties directly into this week’s WWE Raw. During a backstage segment, Morgan asked SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis for time off to film a major project. Aldis approved it on-screen, while Dominik Mysterio was denied a similar request to step away. Morgan, who currently holds the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with Raquel Rodriguez, is now officially stepping into a major new spotlight.
This role also marks Morgan’s first real entry into the film industry—despite years of fan speculation that she was destined for Hollywood. During her Raw appearance, no details were mentioned on TV, but now the bigger picture is crystal clear.
Liv Morgan is joining a new wave of WWE talent making the jump into film, and Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo could be the launchpad for something much bigger.
