Kurt Fuller Claims He Almost Died Because of Hulk Hogan While Filming “No Holds Barred” Scene

Hulk Hogan starred in the infamous 1989 film No Holds Barred and he worked with actors such as Kurt Fuller in the film. However, Hogan wasn’t an experienced actor at all and now Fuller claimed he almost died because of Hogan.

While speaking on Wrestling Life with Ben Veal, Kurt Fuller talked about what it was like working with Hulk Hogan on No Holds Barred. In one scene, Hogan was supposed to shove a check into Fuller’s mouth and throat, and Fuller was then supposed to swallow it while Hogan delivered his line about not being around when the check cleared. Fuller assumed it would be staged safely, without actually forcing anything down his throat.

“He’s supposed to shove the check down my mouth, throat, and then I’m supposed to swallow it. His line is, ‘I won’t be around when this check clears, if you know what I’m saying.’ So I figured, okay Hulk, you’re not really supposed to shove it down my throat.”

However, Fuller revealed that Hogan really pushed the check into his mouth, scraping the back of his throat with his fingers so badly that it started to bleed. Fuller said he nearly choked and had to cough it up. Hogan just apologized casually, saying that was how they did it.

Fuller couldn’t believe it, questioning whether that was actually how the scene was supposed to go, and found the whole situation very unprofessional. To make matters worse, he ended up developing an infection from Hogan’s fingernails scratching his throat. It was a very bad experience that left Fuller losing respect for the whole process.

“Oh yes, yes he is—I guess. He shoved it down my throat, his fingers scraped the back of my throat and it started bleeding. I almost died. I had to cough it up. And he goes, ‘Oh sorry brother, sorry brother, that’s the way we do it.’

I said, ‘Really? You really shove the check down somebody’s throat?’ I don’t think so. Could we check? Would you want to? Is there anybody here— you know, it was like real amateur hour.

Then I developed an infection because of his fingernails on my throat. It was bad for a little while. But yeah, he really shoved it down my throat. That’s when I started losing respect for the process.”

This is certainly shocking and just goes to show that Hulk Hogan really should have known better than to go off script like this. Regardless, fans are just glad Fuller didn’t lose his life and went on to have a proper career in Hollywood.
