Winger, Jamie Gittens has joined Chelsea in a £55m transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Having rejected a chance to permanently sign Jadon Sancho after a difficult loan spell for the Manchester United winger last season, Chelsea immediately made Gittens their main target to fill the left-wing position with the 20-year-old having accepted a seven-year contract until June 2032.
Dortmund however weren’t keen to let the youngster leave on a cheap deal and after weeks of negotiations, Chelsea struck a £55m deal for Gittens, who has left the Bundesliga club after having scored 17 goals in 107 appearances across four seasons
“It feels great,” commented Gittens on his move to the Blues. “It’s a great feeling to join such a big club as Chelsea.
“I can’t wait to learn from everyone in the team and to push myself to the max here. It’s an amazing feeling.”
Gittens began his career at Caversham Trents before he enjoyed two stints in Reading’s academy either side of a spell at Chelsea, which was followed by a move to Manchester City in 2018 before he joined Dortmund in September 2020 where he initially spent two seasons with their youth team.
April 2022 saw Gittens make his senior debut for Dortmund in a 6-1 Bundesliga win over VfL Wolfsburg.
