Indian Test captain Shubman Gill confirmed that pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be available for selection for the second Test starting on Wednesday, but added that a final call will be made closer to the start of the match.
“Jasprit Bumrah is available. We are trying to find the right combination which can pick 20 wickets and score runs as well. Will take final call after looking at the wicket for final time today,” said Gill at the pre-match press conference.
India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, talking in the pre-match press conference on Monday, had echoed a similar opinion. ”Bumrah is available for selection for second Test but final call on playing eleven not taken yet.”
Bumrah also bowled a few overs in the nets during India’s practice session at Edgbaston in Birmingham, further easing concerns about his availability.

In the first Test in Leeds, which England won by five wickets, Bumrah bowled a total of 43.3 overs and took five wickets across two innings.
