Drew McIntyre made his presence known on the July 4th episode of WWE SmackDown, crashing the party during a segment with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
The two were reflecting on their WWE Night of Champions match and Cody’s recent King of the Ring victory when McIntyre interrupted with a clear message—he’s back, and he’s not coming quietly.
McIntyre took shots at both men, wondering when WWE became dominated by “Beta Male energy” and making it clear that, in his words, “the Alpha has returned.” McIntyre also questioned Randy Orton’s edge, taking a jab at The Viper for no longer striking with the same ruthless precision.
But it was Cody Rhodes who McIntyre had his eyes on the most. He admitted he wants to see Cody defeat John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam—but only because he plans to be the one to take the title from him.
McIntyre’s return wasn’t without consequences though. As soon as he finished talking, Orton dropped him with an RKO, reminding everyone that The Viper hasn’t lost his bite just yet.
This marked McIntyre’s first appearance since losing a steel cage match to Damian Priest at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event back on May 24.
McIntyre’s back, and it looks like the title picture just got a lot more complicated.
