
West Indies head coach Daren Sammy has addressed allegations of sexual assault made against an unnamed West Indies player, emphasising the need for justice while stressing the importance of following proper legal procedures. I’ve had conversations with them, making sure their mental space is good,” Sammy told reporters in Grenada before the second Test against Australia.“One thing I could say is that we believe in justice. We are a community that believes justice must be served. However, there’s a process. We will continue to support in whatever way we can to make sure that due process and the right system is followed. As a cricketing board, for me as the head coach, I want justice for everyone,” Sammy stated.

“But, as of now, it’s all allegations. And we know the justice system. You’ve got to wait for things to process the right way,” he added.When questioned about allegations potentially dating back two years, Sammy, who became West Indies’ white-ball coach in May 2023 and recently took on the Test role, said he was unaware of that aspect.Sammy declined to comment on whether Cricket West Indies (CWI) should conduct its own investigation, stating, “I can’t answer to that.
