Akash Deep has played seven Test for India so far, where he has picked up 15 wickets at an average of 35.
The fans in India are quite worried, as to who would be the worthy replacement of Jasprit Bumrah, in the matches he is not playing. Now, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has provided with the perfect solution, and feels that the management should consider giving Akash Deep a chance.
Akash Deep in Place of Jasprit Bumrah?
As per Irfan, Akash Deep poses a similar kind of threat, like Mohammed Shami, and can be a potent weapon against England. “If Bumrah is not there, then who should come into the side in his place? Akash Deep, from what’s been seen in the nets, seems to be getting into his rhythm. I feel that he is the Shami mould type of bowler,” Irfan said.
What goes in favour of Akash Deep is, he doesn’t look to hit the deck too hard, and that allows the ball to swing, which is ideal for the English conditions. That also distinguishes him from Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. “His straight seam deliveries can trouble the England batters, especially when it comes to late movement.
Irfan Pathan Backs Pacer
“If you are going aggressive, this could be a problem. We will come to Arshdeep, but I think if Bumrah is not playing, then it should be Akash Deep who should come in his place,” he added. Meanwhile, it is still not clear if Bumrah will play the second Test in Birmingham or not.
