The war of words over R-Truth’s WWE contract situation just took another turn.
On the June 9 episode of Coach and Bro Live, Jonathan Coachman addressed Kevin Nash’s recent shot at him over a claim he made regarding R-Truth’s departure and return—implying that Nash might be running defense for his longtime friend, Triple H.
Coachman had originally stated on his show that someone “in the know” told him WWE offered R-Truth (aka Ron Killings) a reduced contract, and that Truth chose to walk away rather than accept the pay cut. Nash slammed that take on Kliq This, saying it was irresponsible to share secondhand info without standing by it. Coach responded this week with a dose of sarcasm—and a theory.
“I told you I didn’t watch it. Somebody sent me a link and it said, ‘Kevin Nash blasts the Coach for the R-Truth taking less money storyline.’”
“You know who his best friend is in the whole world? Anyone? Anyone? Triple H.”
“Can you imagine if Triple H saw what I said and goes, ‘I can’t address it, but hey Kev, can you address it for us, please?’ I’m not saying he did… but that would be really funny, wouldn’t it?”
While Coachman didn’t seem too bothered by Nash’s comments, he made it clear he’s not in the business of reacting to everyone’s takes.
“I don’t have time to watch what everybody says about us—we’re making the news, not reacting to it.”
Vince Russo, Coachman’s co-host, took a different approach—opting out entirely due to his history with Nash.
“I’m not going to address Kevin because I love Kevin Nash. I always have. Kevin has always been my boy. We go back to the Vinnie Vegas days, 1991.”
“I don’t know what was said. Smart me up. If I’m in the middle of something, I need to be smartened up.”
Coach joked that the controversy just proves people are paying attention to Coach and Bro Live.
“If other people are talking about us, I’m good with it. That means we’re doing something right.”
Whether this stays light or escalates further remains to be seen—but the tension behind the scenes continues to leak out into the podcast world.
