Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has been taking part in voluntary workouts with the team, but he has not been seen throwing the ball. That was the case once again on Tuesday, which has led to some concern about the former Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Reporters who were present at Texans practice on Tuesday noticed that Stroud took part in drills but only handed the ball off. Head coach DeMeco Ryans addressed the situation at the start of his media availability afterward.
Ryans said Stroud has “general soreness” and that the Texans are not concerned.
“There’s no concerns with C.J. It’s just general soreness,” Ryans told reporters, via ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime. We’re taking extra precaution with him, but he’ll be good to go. No concerns on my end there.”
Ryans was then asked if Stroud will be able to throw by mandatory minicamp, which begins on June 10. The coach would not commit to a timeline.
