Justice (retd.) Arun Mishra, the BCCI ombudsman, has directed the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to file written replies on the complaint of gross negligence during the victory celebration stampede in Bengaluru on June 4, which led to the death of 11 people.
The ombudsman’s directives came after senior IPS officer Vikas Kumar filed a complaint to the BCCI. Both KSCA and RCB will have to submit their replies within four weeks.
Earlier, the Board constituted a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines for victory celebrations. The committee consists of Devajit Saikia (Chairperson), Prabhtej Singh Bhatia and Rajeev Shukla.
“In light of the incident that occurred during the victory celebrations in Bengaluru, the Apex Council has decided to constitute a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future,” the BCCI had stated earlier.
