The countdown to Grapple Island is officially on.
On June 1, fighters gathered at the Valores Training Center in Valle Verde for the official contract signing and rules orientation — a crucial step before the much-anticipated grappling event on June 7–8 at LasCalas Resort in Dasol, Pangasinan.
Founder Louie Sangalang shared the vision behind Grapple Island, highlighting its goal to create a world-class grappling experience rooted in technique, discipline, and community. Professor Mark Entrata of Alliance/Cobrinha Jiujitsu Manila gave motivational words, while Event Director Jason Salao briefed athletes on the schedule. Professor Ram Morales, the official referee, walked them through Grapple Island’s strict submission-only, best-of-three ruleset — no points, no advantages, no referee decisions.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. Grapple Island will also feature an exclusive 2-day beachside seminar with IBJJF World Champion Isaac Doederlein on June 7 and 8.
The action unfolds at the stunning LasCalas Resort, with live streaming on Facebook.
